I joined the Make People Happy Group because I have set up a group in the past for people with Learning Disabilities who are Lesbian, Gay or Bisexual (called Someone like Me). I come to the group because I love working with people.
It’s ok at the Make People Happy Group. I have only recently joined but my favourite thing is going for sandwiches for everyone at the end of the session.
I like having a laugh with the people in the group. My new job in the group is to check on the Independent Mental Capacity Advocates. Before that I used to work with Paul on the Disability Discrimination Act.
I joined the group to make sure advocates were doing a good job. I am making sure that the stuff Choice produce is easy to understand for people with learning difficulties. I also work at Change in Leeds.
The Make People Happy Group is a user-led monitoring and evaluation body. Our job is to make sure that Choice are meeting people’s needs in the community and doing their work properly. We sometimes ask advocacy partners questions after we have finished working with them to see what they thought of it. We are looking for new members to join to help us in our work. If you are interested please get in touch on 01274 391691 and ask to speak to Ann or Mik.
